Take me out to the ballgame...

Wow. What a wonderful week! You guys, serving a mission is the BEST. I'm not just saying that because I'm a missionary :) some pretty awesome things have happened and are happening in the Great OCM!

First, ANDY IS GETTING BAPTIZED ON FRIDAY!! 👏😀 We are so excited for him and he is even more excited! We had a lesson about temples and eternal families a few days ago with him and Debbie (Debbie is scheduled to be baptized next weekend:)) and Debbie was smiling the entire time. I mean, eternal families is a pretty stinking happy blessing that God has made available to us through the restoration of Jesus Christ's gospel. :) they both have been getting a lot of opposition from family and friends and they keep saying, "I don't care what anyone thinks. I've never cared before so why should I care now?" I hope we can all develop that kind of attitude about our faith and standards. :) we are super super excited for his baptism. Hopefully he will be able to baptize Debbie next weekend.

Other cool thing is that I was invited to participate in a small choir of missionaries to sing the national anthem at a Clippers baseball game! Sister Hicks and I were able to go and it was awesome. :) we were even allowed to stay until 8 watching the game so that people could see us and maybe ask questions...unfortunately our seats happened to be by some members 😂 what are the odds? It was fun even though I had no idea what was going on. A League of Their Own is way more exciting to watch than a real baseball game 😉

Life is so great. Heavenly Father loves us all so much it is crazy! :) I hope you all can feel His love everyday!

Love you all,
Sister Morris

Bring on the heat!

Hello!!
Wow. What a good and sweaty week. :) the weather has decided to get super hot and super humid...the kind of humidity where you are super sweaty, you shower, try to dry off, and immediately become sweaty again. 😂 So fun :) I mean at least we don't have to use as much lotion here!

Our investigators Debbie and Andy are on fire! They are loving every bit of the gospel. We gave them word of wisdom pamphlets to study, and the next day Andy had already started to try living it! WHAT?! He is so awesome!! 😁 He has absolutely no problem with giving up the things he has lived with for over 30 years. Amazing. Also, he told us that he got home from working at 1:30 am, was extremely exhausted, but still studied the gospel as soon as he could. That is true love and dedication for the gospel of Jesus Christ. 😊

The Spirit guided me to study 2 Nephi 4 this week and I've felt like I need to invite you all to study it as well. I promise you that no matter what you may be facing right now, that your Savior wants to help. With his help you can stay strong...even if that kind of strong isn't always what you expect it to be. Sometimes being strong is being willing to turn to someone for help. Being strong can mean praying to Heavenly Father even when you may feel alone. I know He's there and He loves each and every one of you! 😊💕

Be happy and have a wonderful week!

Baptisms!

Hello!!
There have been some wonderful things happening in the Great OCM! :) First off, we got to take a road trip to Zanesville because LOMA GOT BAPTIZED! 😄 She has been waiting and working to be baptized for three years! Goes to show that anything is possible when you put your complete trust in God. It was a beautiful baptism... And I got to see my amazing daughter, Sister Hansen, the one and only Sister Johnson, and so many wonderful Zanesville ward members who I grew to love dearly. Also, one of Lomas sons was there and he always will put a smile on your face. 😀

Andy and Debbie came to church again and are absolutely loving it all! We invited them to be baptized and Debbie said, "I'm going under!!" haha and then Andy just smiled and said yes. They're the cutest couple and are so excited to be baptized together! They've been asking if they can renew their vows before being baptized but we think they are wanting to be sealed 😂 we will have to clarify that.

I want to thank everyone so much for all the prayers! I had surgery on Monday and all went well. Our mission president and his wife have been taking really good care of us. I'm so grateful for the prayers because I know they helped keep me here for the surgery and have helped the recovery to go well. 😊 Thankfully we have technology so even though we were at the mission home, we were still bale to have a video call lesson with Andy and Debbie.

Life is absolutely amazing. I love it here in Ohio. Serving a mission is the best decision you could make... So if you're contemplating it, GO!! (unless the Spirit tells you specifically not to go haha) it is hard, but holy cow... It is so so sooo worth it. You see the gospel of Jesus Christ completely change people. You see the atonement of Christ at work in those around you and in yourself. You get to see people grow and make covenants with God! You make best friends who will remain best friends into the eternities. You grow to love your family even more. You grow to love God and Jesus Christ more. It is the best. 😊

Love you all so so much!!

Stay happy!

Miracles make for a long email!

Hello hello!!
I've officially been in th great Ohio for a while year! Cannot believe how fast it has gone and how many miracles have taken place. Last week was a prime example of what God meant when He said "a marvelous work and a wonder". As mentioned last week, President Stratford has a goal for every companionship to Baptize before July 1...which means people need to be coming to church! Last transfer Sister Hicks and I worked so hard to get people to church but it never happened. Saturday we set a goal to help as many people as possible make it the next morning. Well, God definitely consecrated our efforts! The next morning we and the whole ward were stunned when one by one six of our investigators walked into the chapel!! Six investigators! Hahaha we didn't know what to do! 😂 All I can say about that is exactly what Ammon said in Alma 26,

"Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever."

Two of the investigators who showed up are our miracle family. We have been praying so fervently to find a family to teach and help work towards baptism and God gave us Andy and Debbie! They are a Welsh couple with super awesome accents. Andy has never really gone to church or particularly liked organized religion. He went to church with Debbie a few times throughout their marriage but always thought it was boring. (remember Uchtdorf's words, "church sleep is the best sleep!") anyways, they had been previously taught by missionaries but the timing just wasn't right for some reason. When we stopped by they let us right in. We testified of the sacrament, which is the whole reason we even go to church, and promised them how much it will help them. Debbie was very excited to go, but Andy said they'd try out the first hour and that's all. After sacrament meeting was over Andy cheerfully said, "well I guess we will try the next part a bit." WHAT?! We were about ready to hug goodbye! Then after Sunday school he still wanted to stay for the third hour! At the end of church Sister Hicks asked him how he liked it, and he responded very positively--he wants to come back next week. 🙊 Debbie looked at me and said, "he's a changed man! Catch me, I'll faint" 😂 man, it was such a great day!

Also, we are currently teaching a man who lives in India! He would be baptized but he lives 900 miles away from the nearest church building. After we had a lesson with him and were setting up a return appointment he said, "hang up and call me back in two minutes. That's when we can meet again." 😂 haha he's awesome! He has heard a lot of anti Mormon stuff, but he told us, "I have never read anything bad in the Book of Mormon, so I'm going to keep learning and reading." talking with him has made me realize even more how lucky we are to have the gospel at such easy access... He has no opportunity to learn more than over video chat and can't partake of the sacrament. He does all he can with what he has...do we do all we can with all we have? God has blessed us with temples all around us (if you're in Utah haha!) how often do we go? How often do we truly prepare for the sacrament? How often do we share our testimony? How often do we sincerely study the scriptures? I hope we all take time to ponder upon a way that we can more fully live, love and embrace the goodness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. :)

Thank you all so much for your prayers and support! They mean so much and have helped more than you could ever know. Love you all! Remember to be happy always, even when it's hard. 😊💕

Love,
